Bridal Veil Style Guide

Tuesday, May 29th, 2012

From modern to traditional to vintage chic, bridal veils come in more flavors than Baskin-Robbins ice cream! So, to help all our brides and (brides-to-be) with veil terminology, we’ve created the bridal veil glossary below.

Very often these styles are combined. So, a bride wearing a pouf can also wear a birdcage blusher, or you may choose a short tiered veil to wear over a cathedral veil for a more dramatic walk down the aisle. However, to keep things simple, we’ve included our most commonly requested veils, all modeled by our wonderful Bridal Styles brides.

There are many more veil styles than those listed below, so if you don’t see what you envision, just ask us! We custom-make every bridal veil here in our boutique, so we can create or alter anything to help you create your one-of-a-kind wedding day look!

POUF: Layers of folded tulle worn at the back of the head to create a more modern and fun effect.

Classic, Romantic Bridal Style

Friday, April 27th, 2012

Recently, at NYC Couture Bridal fashion week, as gorgeous wedding gowns floated down the runways, all we could think about was bridal accessories. After all, though wedding dresses are stunning, veils, sparkly hair combs, bracelets, and earrings amplify the fabulous!

In every show, there was an emphasis on timeless romance, a trend which every bride can make her own.

If a classic silhouette is more your style, the layers of lace and tulle of this Reem Acra gown could be a great fit. Slip on a delicate statement bracelet and spectacular crystal flower hair comb to echo the gown’s sweet details. Choose a hairstyle that’s loose and dreamy to go with your pale pink make-up, and voila! A bridal look that’s got oomph and classic, romantic style!

For those of you drawn to something a little more sleek, this Oscar de la Renta number will have you weak in the knees! Its wonderful bow detail is enhanced when paired with fantastic chandelier earrings and divine Valentino shoes made of dazzling ribbon. Adorn your up-do with hair combs (complete with bows), and you’ll wow as you walk down the aisle.

Uniquely Traditional Bridal Style

Thursday, March 17th, 2011

Creating a traditional wedding day look doesn’t mean a bride has to compromise her own style sensibilities!

Coco Chanel once said, “Fashion fades, only style remains the same.”

Do you envision celebrating your wedding in an elegant, gracious venue, wearing a classic gown and beautiful headpiece, but are not sure how to stay true to your personality?

Remember, It doesn’t always take a full ball gown and regal crown to achieve traditional style (although that’s a stunning look). Classic is all in the details! Using some pieces from our new 2011 Spring/Summer bridal accessory collection, we created style boards to show you a few different traditional brides!

Jeannette and Steven’s New Years Eve Wedding

Tuesday, March 8th, 2011

You never know when you are going meet the person you’re going to spend the rest of your life with!

On a Thursday summer night in Staten Island, Jeannette and Steven happened to be at Angelina’s Restaurant. When they met, sparks flew! Says Jeannette, “Steven was charming and funny – we hit it off right from the start!“

It was love at first sight, and seven months later on Christmas Day, Steven proposed during breakfast. “It was an amazing surprise and the best Christmas gift I’ll ever get!”

The holidays are Jeannette’s favorite time of year, so they began to plan for a winter wedding and selected the Addison Park in Aberdeen, NJ for their reception. “It’s the most beautiful classy, tasteful place. The decor had our names written all over it, from the chandeliers to the white Christmas trees. Everything was perfect for us!”

All the festive décor at the Addison Park got Jeannette and Steven thinking, why not begin their marriage and ring in the New Year together?

Date and place decided, Jeannette was ready to shop for her bridal gown. “Now that we decided on New Year’s Eve, it was all about BLING! For the dress, I wanted to be bold couture and different. I went to Ct Couture Bridal and consulted with Nelly, my dressmaker. Together, we designed my dream dress.”

For the icing on her dazzling look, Jeannette visited us at Bridal Styles! We created a spectacular asymmetrical headbandwith different shaped Swarovski crystals, finished with a dramatic French net veil, tailor made to complement her one of a kind gown. The day of the wedding French Twist Salon in Staten Island completed Jeannette’s breathtaking look with an elegant updo.

December 31, 2010 was everything Jeannette and Steven dreamed of.

“I envisioned myself glowing from the inside out: my dress, headpiece and our wedding day was all I dreamed of and more! I sparkled from head to toe, and my day was beautiful from the moment I woke up to the very last dance. The most special part of the day was our ceremony at Our Lady Star Of The Sea church. Walking down the aisle of a church packed with friends family and acquaintances as they applauded and gasped when I Steve and I saw each other for the first time on our special day. It was surreal and something I’ll never forget!”

Before heading to the Addison for their reception, Jeannette, Steven, their bridal party, family and Vince from Elite Photography headed to where it all began – Angelina’s Restaurant for pictures. “There we saw the most amazing sunset and we have the pictures to last a lifetime!”

Jeannette and Steven had advice for couples in the midst of planning their own weddings.

“Enjoy! It is the happiest time in our lives so far and we are so happy we enjoyed the planning and took the time to step back and look around and see it all come together we also just simply had a great time together. Good luck to all!”
