Gabrielle and Sergey’s Regal, Fairy Tale Wedding

Tuesday, August 26th, 2014

When it came to meeting the love of her life, beautiful Bridal Styles bride Gabrielle employed a strategy any woman with a black belt in shopping could appreciate. She knew exactly who she wanted, and didn’t hesitate to make her move!

From Gabrielle:

“Serge and I met through a social gathering in which I “picked” him out of a group and said “I want that one!” to his friend. It was love at first sight and we haven’t been apart ever since that day!”

Right away, Gabrielle knew that following her heart had led to making the perfect choice:

“We met when I was particularly going through a difficult situation at home; my grandfather was passing away. Serge was there by my side through it all. Helping my family a week after meeting me, never leaving my side. It was then I knew he would be by my side forever.”

Serge felt the same way, and he soon asked Gabrielle for her hand in a very sweet way:

“Serge is very to himself and private. He likes to be alone, just the two of us, and that’s what he had in mind when he proposed on December 21, 2012 in Borgata at Bobby Flay’s steakhouse. It was very romantic!”

Gabrielle wanted time to plan the perfect wedding, and so the two set a date a year and a half away: April 6, 2014. Almost right away, our lovely bride and her mom got to work. They started by asking friends and family who’d already planned weddings for advice, but there was one aspect of the day for which Gabrielle didn’t need any suggestions…the venue! From Gabrielle:

“Ever since I was a little girl, my daddy told me I was his princess. So, of course I married in a castle! Oheka Castle was the only venue I looked at and we booked the hall then and there! We were worried about having an outdoor ceremony due to it being the beginning of April, especially since a week before there was rain and snow. Then our day came and it was the most gorgeous outdoor ceremony that I could have ever imagined with the sun shining right at my Chuppah!”

With her castle secured, Gabrielle went in search of her gown and glass slippers.

“I knew I wanted to look like a princess – hence the horse and carriage!

The dress was something I envisioned ever since I was a little girl… A beautiful ball gown. I initially thought it would have to be custom made, but when I went to Kleinfelds and tried it on (it was the only dress I tried on!!!!), my mother and I looked at each other and knew it was the one …. And then we started hysterically crying!!!! It was the most amazing Pnina Tornai I had ever seen!

And equally, my shoes had to be Cinderella shoes! I knew I wanted Christian Louboutins but not such a high heel. The crystal Louboutins were all on a very high heel so I ordered a pair of plain black ones with the smallest heel possible from Boston (they didn’t have this style in NY) and had Crystal Rieger – owner of Red Soles Reborn – custom make my gorgeous blinged out Loubs!

All my jewelry (except my gorgeous bracelet by Bridal Styles Boutique) was my mother’s present to me on my wedding day.”

No princess is complete without her crown, crystal encrusted veils and white glove service. For that, Gabrielle knew there was only one place to go.

“There was NOOOOOO other place besides Bridal Styles that I would even think about going to get a customized creation such like my REGAL crown. As soon as I walked into the store I was floored with the beauty and exquisiteness they had to offer. But I knew that they would create something spectacular for me that was never done before. Such meticulous detail and perfection was hard to imagine until my headpiece was actually DONE and boy was it unimaginable indeed. I was in utter disbelief upon revelation!!!! I stood there with my jaw to the floor in shock. It was perfect. Everything about it was perfect. There were no words to describe the beauty. And then came my custom bracelet, crystallized fingertip and cathedral veils! I was all blinged out! WOW! It was like a dream. It was perfect. I can never be more grateful for the amazing experience I had throughout this whole process.”

When April 6 arrived, Gabrielle was a bit anxious, but like all fairy tales, her day had a perfect ending. From Gabrielle:

“I was a nervous wreck leading up to the day. But the morning of, at 6 am when the most amazing person Jackie (my wedding coordinator) greeted me with the biggest smile met me downstairs at the entrance to the castle and gave me a hug and a kiss telling me that today is going to be perfect, and it was!!!!!

I always envisioned getting ready with my friends and family and that meant a lot to me, but the most memorable part to me was right before I walked down the aisle. I went from a totally different entrance to get on the horse and carriage and was completely by myself for about 5 minutes. Hearing the classical music as my family and friends walked down the aisle…it was surreal. And I was just sitting there thinking, WOW. This is everything that I could have ever imagined and so much more. When I arrived, I saw my parents and the tears of joy just started pouring down. It was PERFECT.”

Now blissful newlyweds, Sergey and Gabrielle are passing this advice on to other couples planning their weddings:

“I would say that enjoy every single minute and don’t worry about everyone else. It’s your day and you will remember it for the rest of your life! My husband would say as he says to me: ‘Let your fiancé do whatever she wants, your job is to just be there!’. “

Angela and Bruce’s Spectacular Ghanaian-Scottish Wedding

Tuesday, March 25th, 2014

Angela and Bruce’s love story began at a place where meeting your match is the last thing on anyone’s mind…at work! But, from the moment Angela and Bruce met, sparks flew. From Angela:

“We met each other at Holiday Inn Accra Airport in Ghana when I was working as Bruce’s personal assistant, and, from day one, we had a natural chemistry. When we were together it just seemed right. We could read each other’s minds and be open with each other.”

Having met her prince, Angela was in for more unexpected romance:

“When he was not supposed to be in the county, Bruce made a surprise visit to my home. He came into my bedroom where I was in a deep sleep, woke me and then asked was I ready to spend the rest of my life with him. Initially I thought I was dreaming until he repeated the question and the true reality of the situation came to me.”

Despite the fact that the two work in the hotel business, putting together an international wedding takes a lot of preparation! And, with the day only eight months away, Angela and Bruce enlisted the help of Abokuma Ellis (Purple Twirl) Weddings and Events to help with the planning of their waterside wedding in Ghana at the Royal Senchi Resort Hotel.

From Angela:

“Because we have both been in the hotel business for many years, the planning was very much like a day at work. We did, however, use the wedding planner to take away the stress of putting all the vendors together on the day and to ensure the hotel was in check.

My vision was to have a classic look. I wanted the wedding to have the same color scheme as my engagement, so we used royal blue and gold for the table cloths and chairs, our centerpieces fresh white and yellow roses (imported as roses don’t grow in Ghana) matched my bouquet and were set on Tartan which matched Bruce’s kilt.

I traveled to Bruce’s family home in Scotland, and in three weeks put together the rings, our Scottish favors (mini sporran key rings), Bruce’s kilt and accessories, wedding dress, and, of course, our daughter Natsumi’s outfits. While there, I also made sure all the handmade jewelry from Bridal Styles Boutique, along with my bespoke Kavelle Couture wedding dress from Scotland, would be ready to be transported to Ghana.

Locally, I had the bridesmaid’s dresses made with the traditional Kente cloth, and one of my friends made t-shirts for both the groomsmen and bridesmaids for before the wedding.”

With all her wedding preparations in the works, Angela began her search for the elements of her bridal look by turning on her laptop, where she found the gown of her dreams…and Bridal Styles Boutique!

“I spent many hours surfing websites searching for the wedding dress I wanted. I always had my eye on a fishtail strapless wedding dress, and, since our time frame was growing short, I chose a Scottish bespoke dressmaker, Kavelle Couture, as they hand-make your dress to your exact specifications. Would you believe in three weeks from my first appointment I had my dream dress?

My hair and makeup were designed to complement my custom hair comb from Bridal Styles Boutique as well as my dress, and my beautiful Christian Louboutin shoes were a wedding gift from Bruce.”

When December 14, 2013 finally arrived, it was beautiful and sunny….and started bright and early! From Angela:

“The reception and ceremony had been designed and set up by a company called Décor Talk.

Our day started early with a 5am wake up call, and, while my bridesmaids and myself were being seen to by our hair and makeup artists, enjoyed waffles and champagne for breakfast. All the while, our 10-month old daughter, Natsumi, was running around demanding attention.

Our brief ceremony took place under a gazebo beside the riverbank on the hotel grounds, during which a quartet played. I walked down the aisle to “Beautiful in White,” by Shaun Ward (better remembered from the film Father of the Bride).

Following our short ceremony, we enjoyed a cocktail hour and more of our quartet’s music by the riverside. From there, we strolled to our reception inside the hotel’s ballroom, set with round tables, one long top table and a glass dance floor, beside which our five-tier wedding cake was displayed.

After being announced in, we started the reception by cutting the cake together with our mothers. Our buffet was laid outside so everyone could continue to enjoy the view, and, as we dined, the quartet played. After the meal, our first dance was to “At Last” by Etta James, sung by our quartet’s soloist. Following the bride-father and mother-groom dances, we kicked into the dancing with the DJ!

Before the night was over, I tossed the bouquet and Bruce had tossed my garter.”

By the end of their celebration, Bruce and Angela’s hearts were filled to the brim with wonderful memories, but, for each, the ceremony stood out the most.
Angela will never forget saying her vows while Bruce held back tears, and Bruce will always remember watching Angela walk down the aisle and saying his vows.

Our beaming couple’s have the following advice for other brides and grooms-to-be planning to say ‘I do’ :

Angela:

“Make sure you have your man where you want him and his credit card accessible. Oh, and to ensure he knows what you really want exactly! Lol! And don’t let anyone talk you out of your dream.”

Bruce:

“Agree to whatever she wants. Oh, and ensure the limit on the credit card is set appropriately, and for the jewelry you must use Bridal Styles Boutique and have a hair comb hand made!”

Diana & Mazen’s Gorgeous Beirut Wedding!

Tuesday, September 4th, 2012

From the moment they met, Bridal Styles bride Diana and her sweetie Mazen knew they were meant to be.

“I had newly moved to Montreal and met Mazen through some close friends. It was love at first sight, and, after a few weeks we started dating. I felt attracted to him since the first minute. I always wanted to be around him, and I missed him terribly when he traveled for business.”

Their tender courtship blossomed into an engagement on an unforgettable evening when Mazen took Diana out to romantic dinner and proposed.

Almost right away, the two began planning their wedding, which would take place in Beirut, Lebanon. To help with all the details and logistics, Diana hired “one of the best wedding planners in Beirut.” So, first things first, Diana and Mazen traveled to Lebanon to talk style, theme, and details for their celebration at one of Lebanon’s finest hotels, the Four Seasons Beirut:

“We met with the wedding planning team and picked a traditional, historic Middle Eastern theme, ‘a thousand and one nights.’ I participated in all the details from picking invitation cards, decorations , flowers , music, etc. We made everything look like an oriental night, yet with a very classy and glamorous environment.”

Back in Montreal, Diana got right to work searching for the perfect wedding day look that would complement both her theme and personal style. She found exactly the wedding gown she was looking for in Elie Saab’s elegant collection.

Then the hunt was on for bridal accessories!

“I spent months looking for stylish and unique jewelries. I started to get fed up since I couldn’t find what I wanted…until I came across the Bridal Styles Boutique website, where I found breathtaking and classy designs from the headpieces and bracelets to the earrings. “

After talking both online and on the phone, together we custom-designed a gorgeous hair comb, bracelet and earrings to complete Diana’s look!

“I was so happy with my custom made jewelry by Bridal Styles and even happier with their customer service. Bridal Styles possesses exceptional and friendly personnel that goes the extra mile to make the customer satisfied.”

Before Diana and Mazen knew it, a year had passed and they were in Beruit, preparing for the moment on July 9 when they would become husband and wife. On that morning, Diana “was very stressed and tense, however once I saw my husband coming my way to hold my hand, I forgot everything, started smiling and felt safe.”

Though their day was full of incredible moments and memories, Diana cherishes the memory of Mazen serenading her! As for Mazen, he’ll never forget what it was like to see Diana:

“On a big platform, hanging in the air, held by six people with ten belly dancers swirling around me. His heart started beating too quick!”
