Libby and Gary’s Lovely Labor Day Wedding

Tuesday, April 23rd, 2013

Friends since meeting in a psychology class at Hunter College, Libby and Gary discovered there was something special between them after graduation and decided to take a chance.

From Libby:

“Somehow our friendship grew into something special. But, I was afraid that if we became more than friends it wouldn’t work out. I did not want to lose a friend or jeopardize our friendship. I was not ready to enter a relationship. One day Gary said to me, “Why do you worry it wouldn’t work out? What if it will?” These words were powerful. It was his persistence and confidence in us that made me trust him blindly. I knew then he was the one. He is my idea of a real man come true.”

They say love is a force of nature, and for Gary and Libby, that’s absolutely true! Especially when it came to Gary’s proposal.

“It was during the Hurricane Irene alert. Our areas (Brighton Beach and Manhattan Beach) were under mandatory evacuation. We all left the danger zone to go to Gary’s house in the Poconos. It was August 26, my mom’s birthday, and we sat down for a celebratory dinner. Everyone raised a toast for my mom and Gary was the last to toast. Suddenly, I see him on one knee pulling a ring box (with a beautiful ring) out of his pocket. I was shocked and so surprised. It was one of the happiest moments of my life. I remember being so emotional, feeling that I was the luckiest girl in the world.”

Gary and Libby soon chose Labor Day weekend in 2012 to say “I do,” leaving them a year to plan. Luckily, Libby’s in-laws-to-be know a thing or two about weddings, in particular her mother–in-law, Nelly, who happens to be the owner of CT Bridal Couture.

“I had a tremendous amount of help from my parents-in-law, especially my mom-in-law. I couldn’t have done it without her.“

Together, they chose their venue and began planning a wedding that would blend the cultures of the two families.

“The ceremony and reception took place at Crystal Plaza. The ceremony was outside while the reception was inside. The venue was a beautiful place and had a great service. They were organized, punctual, reliable, and sure made us feel that the day is our day.

I wanted our wedding to unite all four cultures that my husband and I bring about, including Jewish, Russian, Israeli, and Bukharian. After the amount of chick flicks that I have watched I knew that a wedding celebration is the end product of a stressful and overwhelming planning process. Luckily, my planning process was smooth and easy. All the thanks go to my mom-in-law. Her years of experience working with brides and wedding vendors as well as her great taste and meticulous eye to details made all the difference. I knew I could turn to her regarding any question or concern to get her honest opinion and advice which was so helpful.”

With all the planning in capable hands, Libby turned her attention to choosing her wedding day look, starting, of course, with a gown custom-created by her soon-to-be mother-in-law!

“Nelly from CT Bridal Couture, who also happens to be my mom-in-law, was my wedding dress designer. I trusted her. Every dress she makes is a masterpiece and truly perfection. My dress was gorgeous, better than I have envisioned it. It was a perfect balance of Swarovski crystals and pearls, very gentle and neat, and so unique and elegant.”

Beautiful wedding gown in the works, Libby knew exactly where she wanted to go for bridal accessories:

“There was one place I wanted to go for my headpiece: Bridal Styles. Edward designed my custom pearl and crystal  headpiece. It perfectly complimented my dress. The design, the crystals, the pearls, and the originality of that piece completed my wedding look. For me, comfort is just as important as beauty. Although many times the two don’t go together as the saying says: “beauty requires suffering,” I was not willing to settle for anything less than comfortable and beautiful. Thankfully, I did not have to.”

Finally, September 2, 2012 arrived. It was all that Libby and Gary imagined (and even more):
“Our wedding day was a dream come true. It was the day where two friends were united. To make the day my own, I prayed during my walk down the aisle. I specifically chose a song that will create a spiritual mood to emphasize the seriousness of the moment. For me, standing under the chuppah was the most powerful and meaningful moment of our wedding day. It is believed that under the chuppah the gates of heaven are opened and all prayers of the groom and bride are accepted. Growing up in Israel, religious, I understood the significance of this moment. This was what made our wedding day my own. One of the most memorable parts of our wedding day was the surprise rap song that Gary dedicated and wrote to me. Every line and verse had a deep meaning behind it. It left me speechless and filled with tears of joy.”

Now a newlywed, Libby has this advice for planning couples:

“My advice to future brides-to-be is to make the most out of this day and remember “if you want to be happy, be” it’s up to you. Don’t let anything get in the way of your happiness that day. It’s not worth it. There will always be something that goes wrong or not according to plan but don’t worry, just be happy!”

Bridal Styles Bride Yanique Featured on Essence!

Tuesday, January 15th, 2013

Bridal Styles bride Yanique, her new husband, Samuel, and their gorgeous wedding at Casa Kimball in the Dominican Republic have been featured in Essence!

Though their wedding was a tropical getaway, they met somewhere far less dreamy! As co-workers, they knew it could be tricky to date, but they took a chance and fell in love (hurray!).

The wedding they planned was an intimate one – 70 of their family and friends joined them at Casa Kimball, and it featured Yanique’s favorite colors, orange and fuchsia. Which, like the bride and groom, are a stunning combination!

When she visited Bridal Styles, Yanique chose the perfect accents to her fabulous Lazaro wedding gown from Kleinfeld and personal style – a dazzling crystal headpiece, French net veil, statement earrings and an eye-catching Swarovski crystal-encrusted bracelet.

Contemporary Bride 2013 Photo Shoot {Behind the Scenes}

Thursday, December 13th, 2012

Recently, Bridal Styles Boutique participated in the covers and editorial shoot for the 2013 issues of Contemporary Bride Magazine! We always have a great time with the staff, and, even after years of working with the magazine on their gorgeous covers, it’s amazing to see how the very talented crew puts everything together.

The day always begins with a rush of dress bags, accessory boxes, flowers, models, photography equipment, hair and makeup, and then, poof! A wedding wonderland with glamorous brides and sweet flower girls is created.

This shoot featured breathtaking gowns (which, as you can see, are divine even waiting to be slipped on) from Kleinfeld Bridal and Exquisite Bride. And, of course, all the stunning bridal accessories were from our 2013 collection at Bridal Styles Boutique!

Though the end result is fabulous images (that now we can’t wait to see on the pages of Contemporary Bride Magazine), the whole process takes an entire day and a ton of effort. As Photography by Frank and David from The Studio Photographers swept in to set up their equipment, Mandy and Kristen from La Sorella Bridal did a fantastic job on all the models’ hair, while Tim Alan worked his makeup magic. Meanwhile, beautiful bouquets from Lotus Petals Floral Design, wedding gowns, and bridal accessories were unpacked and prepared for the spotlight.

To give you a taste of what the day was like, we took the camera for some behind-the-scenes shots as the day unfolded!
