Tricia & Ralph’s Beautiful Summer Wedding!

Thursday, October 18th, 2012

The night Bridal Styles bride Tricia met a handsome guy on his motorcycle outside the Blue Zoo in Bay Ridge changed everything.

“I knew he was the one from the first night we met. There was something about it and I couldn’t pin point it exactly. Then he met my whole family and he was so cool about it and fit right in with everyone, like we knew each other for several years and we were friends before we started dating. I knew then that I would marry him!”

Tricia’s intuition that day was proven right a year and five months later on March 10, 2010, when Ralph surprised her by getting down on one knee at the Central Park Boat House.

“Ralph told me that we hadn’t gone out in a while and we should celebrate our anniversary by having a romantic lunch. He kept where we were going a surprise (but everyone else in my family knew, of course). As soon as we pulled up I knew where we were going and I was so excited!!! He was so nervous the whole day. Towards the end of lunch, right before dessert, he told me to come closer – that he wanted to be closer to me. Then, he told me he loved me so much and that I have made him so happy, the happiest he has ever been and that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. He kneeled on one knee and PROPOSED TO ME!!! It was so romantic and planned out. He gave the camera to the host ahead of time so they could capture the whole moment!”

Almost right away, Tricia and Ralph began planning their ceremony at Good Shepherd Church and dream wedding reception at the Riviera…with a little help from Tricia’s mom and sister.

“My mom was there every step of the way. From going with Ralph to pick out my stunning engagement ring, to picking out our wedding invitations. She really was there for it all. Everything we wanted and asked for she and my father made sure that it happened. We truly could not and would have not done it without her by our sides!!!

“Planning the wedding was extremely fun, exciting and stressful at times. I wanted everything to sparkle, and everything down to the Table Numbers did! It definitely was very time consuming and I searched online for everything I needed and wanted. If I saw something and couldn’t find it I made sure to find another way to have it! I was very particular about everything and neat. I kept all of my contracts, papers, print-outs, cut outs, in a folder with separate sections that way I knew where everything was when I needed it. Planning a wedding is a lot of work and when you are as perfect and detailed as I was, keeping a folder is the way to go!”

One of the biggest decisions on any bride’s to-do list is her wedding gown, and for Tricia it was no different! She had a vision of how she wanted to look and set out to find The Dress:

“I envisioned myself to look classy and traditional. I wanted a white satin dress, and for it to sparkle when it came down the aisle. I knew that I didn’t want it to be strapless. Eve of Milady designed my dress to perfection. I took one top from one gown and a bottom from another gown and put it together. My dress was gorgeous and sparkled all over. I wish one day I could wear it again.”

Before she even walked through our doors, Tricia was a Bridal Styles customer – her communion headpiece had been a Bridal Styles creation!

“My headpiece was custom made from none-other than Bridal Styles! I knew that I would always go back to them. My Aunt got her bridal headpiece from there and I had gotten my communion headpiece from there. My mom always told me that when I get married I would be going back there for my wedding headpiece and sure enough, that is where I got my custom sparkling Swarovski crystal headpiece. Medina and the staff there were so helpful as always and knew exactly what I wanted. I think that I loved my headpiece more than my dress. I think to myself every day ‘When I will be able to wear it again?’!”

Finally, April 21, 2012 arrived!

“It was truly the most amazing day that we have experienced yet! Everything was perfect from the minute I woke up to the minute we went to bed. In the morning I went for my hair and make-up at Concept Elite with my Maid of Honor which of course was my sister, my mom and two of my bridesmaids, my cousin Melissa and best friend Juliana. It was an amazing morning! Concept Elite did an amazing job on all of us, I wouldn’t have chosen anywhere else. After that, I came home to a beautiful display of over hundred roses from my husband-to-be! Next, the rest of my bridesmaids arrived along with family, and the photographer arrived for pictures. My sister and mom helped me get ready to go and meet my future husband at the church. It was all a dream come true and I wish we could do it all over again! A bride plans for years with her fiancé for their wedding day and it is all gone and finished in one day! We enjoyed our day to the fullest and have a video and tons of pictures for the memories!!!”

But before leaving the house to walk down the aisle, Tricia did one very important thing:

“When I was a little girl, my grandma always kissed a penny saying that meant good luck, and that I would be happy as long as I had her penny with me by my side! So that day I taped a penny on the bottom of each of my shoe soles. This reminded me of my grandmother and that she was always by my side throughout the day!”

Though filled with many wonderful moments, to Tricia and Ralph, two stand out as extra special. They both remember:

“Sitting at our reception, looking at each other and thinking to ourselves that all these people are celebrating our love. We just grasped the moment and really enjoyed it! Another memorable part of was saying our vows to each other!! Expressing your love to one another in front of tons of people is definitely something we will never forget!”

As happily married newlyweds, Tricia and Ralph have the following advice for other couples planning their weddings:

“Enjoy everything to the fullest. Planning a wedding is extremely stressful and takes a lot out of couple. There are definitely ups and downs that you’re going to come across, and something – not matter how hard you try – will not be perfect. Remember that no matter how much stress you or things you come across in the end all that matters is you and your husband-to-be’s happiness and how much you love each other. Also, at some point of the day just take a few minutes look around at everything and breathe it all in. That feeling, that experience that look will never be there again! Make it Last and make the absolute BEST of it!!”

Bridal Styles Babies! {Lilliana}

Thursday, October 4th, 2012

Are you ready for some serious cuteness? Meet Lilliana Maria! She’s modeling her mom Christina’s clear and black diamond crystal hair comb, which Mom wore on her wedding day (along with a French net blusher veil), August 14, 2011.

Looks like little Lilliana is going to be just as much of a knockout as her mom!

From Christina and baby Lilliana:

“I just want to thank you for helping me choose the most amazing headpiece for my wedding. My experience I had with you guys was so a very memorable one. I was treated so well and you really helped me find exactly what I had always pictured. It has been a little over 1 year since my wedding and I still get compliments on it! I just recently had a baby girl and for her newborn photos I decided to incorporate my headpiece and veil for her as an heirloom that she will one day get. The pictures speak for themselves and she just looks beautiful in it. Thank you again for everything!”

Thank you for sharing your pictures, especially of little Lilliana! She is beautiful – just like her mother. We love how you’ve transformed your headpiece into an heirloom in such a special way, and we are so thrilled to be a part of your memories!

Notes from Bridal Styles Brides {Christine}

Thursday, September 27th, 2012

From Christine:

“To the wonderful staff at Bridal Styles,

It is not easy to plan a wedding as an indecisive/over-analyzing bride. Although many people had recommended I visit your showroom, I was worried I’d be overwhelmed with the selection, and unable to make a choice. My mom and I entered to take a casual look, thinking it would take me several visits, and internet searching, to make a final decision.

Upon meeting your friendly staff, and selecting pieces I liked, then narrowing in on those suggested, I felt at ease thinking I might get my headpiece in only one visit! Not only was the staff attentive, you helped to put my hair into a potential hairstyle so I could get a good idea of what each piece would look like the day of my wedding. I am so happy I decided to come take a look that day.

I decided to wait on my jewelry thinking maybe I’d come across something later on, however when I returned to pick up my finished headpiece I found the perfect earrings to complete my look within minutes. I couldn’t have found a more perfect pair if I tried!

The Bridal Styles experience was one of the best throughout my 2 years of wedding planning. Thank you for helping me to tie together my wedding day look, with a no-pressure, enjoyable shopping experience. Bridal Styles is a must for anyone planning an upcoming wedding. You will love looking back at your photos and admiring the gorgeous accessories that finalized your look on one of the most important days of your life. I know that I most definitely did.”

What a gorgeous bride you are, Christine! We so enjoyed working with you, and are thrilled to learn about your wonderful experience choosing your bridal headpiece and jewelry at Bridal Styles. Best wishes!

Lisa and Jason’s Regally Elegant Fall Wedding

Tuesday, February 7th, 2012

Best friends since 1997 when they met in the seventh grade at Herricks Middle School in Albertson, NY, Jason and Lisa spent their days laughing at inside jokes and confiding in each other. But it wasn’t until after middle and high school that they realized what they had was true love! With that revelation, Jason wooed Lisa, and on December 28, 2003, they became a couple.

Lisa & Jason

Friends for so long, they were finally able to focus on the fact that they had fallen for each other, and on their first real date earlier that December, Lisa knew Jason was “the one.” During this time, they were both at New York University where Jason majored in Recorded Music and Lisa in Medieval & Renaissance Studies. Following college, Jason began working in the music industry and Lisa continued on to law school at Hofstra University.

With her May graduation and 25th birthday in June on the horizon, Lisa had a feeling a proposal would come soon. But, since Jason, an accomplished musician, was a very private person, she never thought it would be in a public forum. However, Jason shocked everyone on Christmas Eve in 2009.

During a Christmas celebration with both families present, Lisa opened what she thought was a vacation as an early anniversary gift from Jason. Instead, inside of the box was a framed poem by Jason…which he then read to Lisa, proposing at the end. The moment was captured on video and is now a YouTube hit!

Since Lisa was still in law school at the time of the engagement and they both dreamed of a fall wedding, they decided to wait until November of 2011 to say “I Do.” For the next 23 months, Lisa and Jason, along with both sets of parents and siblings, particularly Lisa’s sisters Jillian and Courtney, planned the wedding together. The theme was “Regal Elegance” with warm fall undertones. It was Lisa’s mission to stay away from a “leaves everywhere” feel!

Jason and Lisa saved as much money as they could, and with the help of their parents (who housed and fed them during this time), it was all possible. Many late night hours of DIY projects as well as hours of dress, headpiece and veil shopping came together on November 4, 2011.

When Lisa imagined herself on her wedding day, it was wearing a ballgown, headpiece and veil. Finally, after trying on close to 100 dresses, Lisa found “the one” at Bridal Reflections. By Eve of Milady, it was a gorgeous duchess satin ballgown with lace overlay and gold and silver beading and threading throughout. Thirty years earlier in 1981, Lisa’s mom had also worn a stunning lace Eve of Milady gown, so she thought it was fate when her daughter chose the same designer!

Dress chosen, Lisa could focus on accessories. She’d heard musings about Bridal Styles Boutique on wedding websites like liweddings.com and decided to head there since she knew exactly where it was – right around the corner from her grandmother’s house!

Lisa, her godmother Stephanie, mother and sister Jillian loved the store the second they walked in. Before coming to Bridal Styles, everything Lisa tried had fallen short of what she had envisioned for her wedding day. In short order, everyone had decided on a custom piece for Lisa to wear that complemented her dress and veil as well as her theme of “Regal Elegance.” It even harmonized with the bracelet and earrings Lisa had purchased. Making the moment even more special, Lisa’s godmother purchased the headpiece for her as a gift, which is now greatly cherished!

Lisa and Jason’s ceremony at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church in East Northport was followed by a reception at the Crest Hollow Country Club. One vendor Lisa could not have done without was her Day of Coordinator, Leane Kondenar of Above and Beyond Events. Lisa’s sister, Jillian, had “gifted” Leane to her so that on her wedding day someone else would be “in charge.” Thanks to Leane, everything, including a few mishaps, were handled seamlessly.

Since Jason is a musician, the day’s music was very important to both of them, so as a surprise for their guests, they wrote and recorded their own wedding song! For the rest of the evening, their band, Code Bleu, kept everyone entertained. Code Bleu’s musicianship was so remarkable that Jason and Lisa are itching to plan another event just so Code Bleu can perform!

Lisa33

Of all of the advice Jason and Lisa received while planning, the best was to make sure they stayed together at the wedding. At a reception, it’s easy to be pulled in different directions. But they made a plan and an effort to stay together, holding hands, for 99% of the night and it really worked out! There are very few pictures where the newlyweds are not together, which is just the way they wanted it to be.

When asked for their own advice to provide to other couples, Jason and Lisa say  “The most important thing to do is to remember to sit back and enjoy. All your guests traveled to come to your wedding. Don’t lose sight of that. And remember, you get to marry your best friend!”

Best wishes, Lisa and Jason, and thank you for sharing your day with us!
