When Eddie caught a glimpse of Yanita, it was love at first sight…but it took him a little courting before this beautiful Bridal Styles bride agreed to a first date. From Yanita:
“We were at a mutual friend’s party, and Eddie liked me as soon as he saw me. After the party, our mutual friend told me that Eddie liked me, but I didn’t want to ‘officially’ meet him. But Eddie was determined and asked me to be his friend on Facebook. After two weeks of private messages on Facebook I realized that we have a lot in common, and with my sister and mom encouraging me, I decided to go on a date and the rest is history!”
All it took was that one date, and Yanita was hooked!
“After our first date I came home and told my mom ‘this is the boy I am going to marry.’ It’s weird because our first date was not perfect! He took me to lunch in Manhattan where we shared a table with other people, that was weird. The menu consisted of all spicy food…and I’m allergic to spicy. But despite that, there was a very strong connection between us. On our third date he told me that he loved me and after two months we started living together. He fit in perfectly with my family, and that was very important to me.”
So, on a winter’s eve, when Eddie made a strange request, despite the cold, Yanita played along and got the surprise of her life!
“He took me to my favorite little restaurant in NYC and after dinner took me under the Brooklyn Bridge. He knew I loved it there. He was determined to propose that night in March. It was freezing. When we parked by the Brooklyn Bridge and got out of the car, all I wanted to do was get back in the car. Eddie wanted to go by the water and I kept telling him that he should go and I’d wait for him. Finally, I gave in and went. It was worth being cold, because that was when he proposed!”
With their date set for July 14, the two started planning. Luckily, Yanita’s sister had been married only less than a year before! Between her mom and sister, planning their wedding at the Pleasantdale Chateau in New Jersey was almost a breeze.
“I got lucky that my sister had her wedding seven months before I had mine. That made my planning process a lot easier. I used some of the same vendors she used and already knew everything that needed to be done.”
Though all Yanita knew was that she wanted was a regal look, choosing her gown was, as they say, a piece of cake!
“I wanted to look like a princess. I didn’t have a specific dress style in mind, and so I went to try on different styles to see what looked best, then had my Pnina Tornai inspired dress custom-made.”
Next, Yanita visited us at Bridal Styles Boutique, where, as if everything was meant to be, she selected her bridal accessories and cake monogram in record time.
“Choosing my accessories was the simplest process. I knew I was getting my accessories from Bridal Styles Boutique ever since I went there with my sister to chose her headpiece for her wedding. With the biggest selection and the high professionalism, it took one visit of half an hour to decide on my dream headpiece. My headpiece was actually put together out of three different pieces because it was hard to narrow down to just one and it was made exactly the way I wanted it. I wanted a beautiful bracelet that was very sparkly to complete my look and got it at Bridal Styles as well.”
When the day arrived, it was more than either Yanita and Eddie had dreamed…
“It started off with hair and makeup with my sister in my bridal suite surrounded by champagne, different drinks and snacks. Then my mother and grandmother joined us. It was just a great time from the moment I woke up that day. Once I was all ready to go, pictures started, which was such a blast. The weather was great for the middle of July!
We just had a great time at our wedding and reception…it was more than either of us imagined. Having family and friends that flew in overseas just to be there with us was incredible. I’m so glad that we decided before our day to not drink anything (alcoholic) until the last hour of our wedding so we could take everything in and keep it crystal clear in our memories! My husband says the most memorable part of the wedding for him is his wife, and I’ll never forget what it was like to see him waiting for me at the end of the aisle.
Our wonderful day ended with the two of us changing into something a lot more comfortable to enjoy an after party with our closest friends.“
Now happy newlyweds, Yanita and Eddie offer this advice to planning couples:
Yanita: “No matter how much you plan or how much effort you put in, the day of the wedding there will most likely be something that’s not exactly the way you wanted it. Don’t let it ruin your special day. You can’t do anything about it the day of, so just keep smiling and forget about it. Only you know how it was supposed to be. Another very important piece of advice is to either wear flats or have flats to change into. I wore flats, and after being on my feet literally the whole day, my feet probably hurt less than any other females at the wedding!”
Eddie: “Embrace and enjoy every moment. Savor every moment with your wife. Be yourself and don’t be nervous.”
Best wishes, Yanita and Eddie, and thank you so much for sharing your day with us!
