Persephone & Eddie’s Glamorous Miami Wedding

From the moment Persephone visited us at Bridal Styles Boutique to select her veil and two crystal-encrusted headpieces (one for her ceremony, one for her reception), we couldn’t wait to see pictures.

After all, we adore a marvelous love story and a gorgeous destination wedding in Miami! But what we love most of all is a happy Bridal Styles bride!

We know what you really want are more details and pictures of their fabulous wedding at the Biltmore Hotel , so, without further ado, Persephone and Eddie’s wedding story, straight from our beautiful bride:

“From the day we started dating, I knew Eddie was my forever man. Eddie is one of those rare men, romantic and gallant like knights from eras past. Our friendship developed into romance which grew to whole-hearted love. On July 25, 2010, while cruising on the Atlantic and watching the sunset fall, Eddie got down on one knee…the ring was perfection. Eddie and I are both from Washington, DC, but soon after we were engaged I dreamt that we were married in South Florida, so it was official – we were having a destination wedding. I have been working the Bridal Fashion and Wedding Industry at Wedding Wire for four years, so I have seen a lot of weddings. I wanted ours to be unique and for every detail to be irrefutably a representation of us. When we first saw the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, we knew without hesitation that the Spanish architecture would provide the perfect ‘canvas’ for our wedding.”

“In my mind, my dress had to be light pink, so when I ‘said yes’ at Kleinfeld, Pnina Tornai worked closely with me to create the exact color that I envisioned. Then I had the pleasure of making a ‘pilgrimage’ to the Bridal Styles store with my MOH + bridesmaid to find the perfect, complimentary headpiece to my over-the-top dress. Elaine and Edward understood my vision as far as the look that I was trying to achieve on my wedding day. Since my light pink, Pnina Tornai dress was a showstopper, I wanted to ensure that the drama of my hairpieces would not compete for attention. I have an affinity towards the unique and memorable, Edward + Elaine understood this and provided their stellar, custom options. “What if we were to make these flowers black,” Edward suggested – I was hooked. Edward presented the idea of having two headpieces – one for the ceremony, which was pure drama and the other a more subtle “accent” for the reception. The last piece that I reluctantly, but thankfully, wore was the veil. I never thought that I would wear a veil – I just didn’t see the need for it.”

“My sister had painted these visions of me walking down the aisle with the veil floating in the wind behind me. Imagine the photo-op possibilities! I took her advice and the advice of Elaine. A long simple, cathedral-length train was dyed to a light shade of pink, only noticeable if you looked closely. It wasn’t until my memorable experience at Bridal Styles that I understood what a difference the right headpiece can make. To the day, now seven months later, I display my headpieces for all to see and admire. I smile in adoration for I truly had the icing on the cupcake. ”

“My shoes were a nod to early on in our relationship; Eddie had surprised me with my first pair of glittery Christian Louboutins. As a ‘thank you’ to my bridesmaids, I bought them all Christian Louboutin heels to wear on our day. My Dad has played an integral role in my life, so I had his cuff embroidered our wedding date and we gave him a pair of cufflinks with yellow diamonds to match my engagement ring. Eddie has a keen sense of style and he decided he wanted a custom suit for himself and for his groomsmen, so he asked that each choose their favorite color for the inside. I always loved the idea of a brooch bouquet; my sister hand-selected every brooch at vintage markets all over Los Angeles and would send them to DC every couple of weeks.”

“When I think about our wedding day, I can describe it in one word – magic. Together Eddie and I conceptualized and selected each piece so that the focus was on our love. For our ceremony, we wanted to fold in both cultures – Greek + Filipino traditions – and most important of all we wanted to write our own vows. While I walked down the aisle, we had a Spanish Guitarist playing one of our favorites ‘My Cherie Amour’ by Stevie Wonder. Through tearful words, we professed our love to one another – the emotion in the room was palpable.”

“Our guests sipped on spirits that smoked with dry ice and for an extra personal touch, we printed 10 snippets from love notes that we had written to one another on our cocktail napkins. We drew inspiration for our color scheme from a stylized Lady Gaga blog post I had seen years ago, so we felt the cobalt blue and burnt orange complemented the intricately painted ballroom. Our friends are young, so we wanted to create a lounge- feel, which enveloped the dance floor. For our centerpieces, seven-foot structures were built from which florals, candles and glass balls suspended. Our florals were ugly beautiful – a mix of Proteas, Peonies and Coral garnished the centerpieces. Punctuating the corner of the room was our delicious, gold wedding cake. As our guests danced the night away, we had a few surprises in store. To provide our guests a more personal experience, we had a cigar roller outside while guests inside were served cake push-pops as a sweet after dinner treat. Since our reception went till 2am, as a final surprise, we had a gelato cart (our favorite) which came alongside the dance floor to pass out heart-shaped gelato pops.”
